Matcha Green Tea Mug Cake

Another great afternoon treat involving the delicious matcha powder, these mug cakes are super simple and easy to prepare. All you need is a couple of minutes and you’ll have a fluffy, yummy snack packed with antioxidants and vitamins.

Ingredients

  • 4 tablespoons of all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon of TTS Japanese Ceremonial Matcha
  • ¼ teaspoon of baking powder
  • 1 tablespoon of granulated white sugar
  • 3 tablespoons of non-fat milk
  • ½ tablespoon of vegetable oil

Method

  • In a microwave-safe mug, add the flour, matcha powder, baking powder and sugar. Whisk until evenly blended and no lumps remain. You need to be sure to break apart any lumps before adding the liquid.
  • Add in the milk and oil. Mix with a whisk until the batter is smooth, and then cook in the microwave on full power for a minute.
  • Allow cooling before eating.

One for the early birds amongst us, this Glow Green! Breakfast Bowl from Kellie’s Food to Glow is sure to get your day started on the right foot. Combining the two powerhouses of green tea matcha powder and natural yoghurt, this smooth breakfast option is packed full of antioxidants and protein that’s bound to keep you full until lunchtime.

Ingredients

  • 150 – 200 millilitres of your choice of yoghurt
  • 1 teaspoon of matcha green tea powder
  • Honey or maple syrup to taste
  • 1 blood orange
  • A handful of walnuts, pecans or almonds

Method

  • Add the yoghurt to a mixing bowl or jug, and sprinkle over the matcha powder. Drizzle in a little honey or maple syrup to taste and then whisk thoroughly. Pour into a serving bowl and top with the sliced blood oranges and then the crumbled nuts of your choice. Eat immediately!
  • For an alternative option, you can have this dish as a dessert by layering some amaretti or gingersnap biscuits on top.
White Hot Chocolate (the matcha way)

Remember hot chocolate? Everyone seems to have a dreamy childhood memory that includes a warm, frothy cup of the stuff. Take a trip back in time with this basic recipe that includes matcha for new-age mega mug of memories.

Ingredients

  • 120ml ounces of hot water
  • 1 teaspoon of TTS Japanese Ceremonial Matcha
  • 1 cup of almond milk (unsweetened)
  • ⅛  cup white chocolate chips.

Method

Whisk the hot water and matcha together thoroughly in a bowl and set it aside. Melt the chocolate chips by heating them with a little bit of the almond milk, in another bowl, and stirring the two together. Add the rest of the almond milk to the bowl. Now combine everything in a large mug and drink.

 

Coconut Matcha Latte

A steaming hot matcha latte is a comforting drink that is easy to make at home. Blogger Molly Yeh shares her easy recipe that calls for matcha powder, milk and honey for sweetness

Ingredients

  • 1 1/2 teaspoons matcha powder
  •  1 tablespoon hot water
  •  2 teaspoons honey, or to taste
  •  3/4 cup hot Coconut milk

Method

Sift the matcha powder into a cup. Add the water and stir until no lumps remain. Stir in the honey. Add the milk and serve.

 

Iced Matcha Green Tea Latte

  1. To the bowl of a blender, add the milk, matcha powder, and vanilla syrup. Blend for 30 seconds to 1 minute or until the matcha is lump-free.
