Pink October

Come October and you may chance upon groups of people sporting pink shirts, pink ribbons here and there, and lots of pink goods on sale. Well, the month of October is recognised  as the National Breast Cancer Awareness Month and nations worldwide show their support through various campaigns to increase awareness about the disease. A pink ribbon is the international symbol of breast cancer awareness.

The idea is to get as many people as possible involved in raising awareness and funds for breast cancer research. In this quest mass-participating events like walkathons and cycle rides are organised and participants solicit donations to breast cancer related charity. Beautiful landmarks in countries like UK and US are illuminated in pink to remind the nation to lend their support and spread awareness.

Don’t stay far behind and join hands in this endeavour. To all the ladies out there, turn your usual kitty party this month into a pink tea party. At workplace, engage your employees in  a ‘wear pink to work’ day. Through these small initiatives you can contribute in knowledge sharing and maybe raise donations to contribute to breast cancer related charities.

P.S. Studies suggest that consumption of Green Tea may lower the risk of various types on cancer.
